Adult Carer Support Workers
Carers in Partnership has previously held a number of Carer Support Workers' Workshops and plans to continue running two workshops a year which are specifically aimed at professional Carer Support Workers. For example the event in March 2008 was specifically about sharing and developing ideas and promoting good practice in sustaining effective Carer Support Groups. Carers In Partnership recognises that local support groups have an important part to play in helping carers in their area so it is really important that they continue to try to meet the needs of local carers as far as is possible.
Very often a Carer Support Worker is a carer’s number one ally. Carers in Partnership is keen to encourage Carers Support Workers to become members so that a regional network of support workers continues to exist and thrive. This is particularly important as no other such network exists; we provide excellent opportunities for Carer Support Workers to share good practice.
Currently our membership includes around 50 Carer Workers. We have a growing number of members who provide support to carers in BME communities. We are particularly keen that our membership network includes carer workers from all specialisms within the mental health arena - e.g. older people, young people, BME etc.
A group of Carer Workers meet from time to time to plan the future events so if you have a suggestion for an event topic or would like to join Carers In Partnership as a Carer Worker member please contact us.
