In its early years Carers in Partnership was provided with permanent funding by successor NHS bodies. CiP ’s brief was to support standard 6 of the then National Service Framework for mental health. That had to do with helping carers in their support for users of the service. By the time the NSF ended in 2008 it was assumed that carer support was fully established, so there was no standard for carer s in the successor New Horizons programme. CiP’s ongoing funding first changed to a commissioned basis and was then terminated. Since 2010 CiP has had to generate commissions to continue its work.
From the earlier period CiP has accumulated a handful of short reports on particular topics. Recent commissioned projects have all produced either a written report or a resource pack, sometimes both. The purpose of these is partly to facilitate further work by those involved, but also to permit dissemination of knowledge for use elsewhere.
